Start Your New Year Right!

If one of your New Year's resolutions is to get yourself healthy, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (don't you just love that name? It just inspires trust, no?) has come to your rescue. Their fantastic 21-Day Vegan Kickstart starts on January 2 and is loaded with resources to help you achieve your health goals.

The really great thing about going vegan for 21 days is that you are sure to reap all kinds of fabulous health benefits. For example, because you won't be eating a lot of saturated fat or cholesterol, you just may see a drop in your cholesterol level, your blood pressure, and your weight! Your skin just might look brighter, and your thinking just might get clearer! Your energy level just might go through the roof! These are just some of the results many people have reported when they switch to a plant-strong way of eating. Exciting, isn't it?

Some of the Kickstart resources that will be available to you include daily recipe tips and menu plans, nutrition webcasts, celebrities cheering you on, and so much more! You really don't want to miss out on this! Oh, and did I mention that it's absolutely FREE? Yes, indeed! You have everything to gain, and nothing to lose.

I can't think of a better way to start off your New Year! It all starts on January 2, so check out this video, then get yourself registered at the link below. Cheers to your good health!!

What I'm Reading Now

Over the past year, I've been so excited as I've been learning more about the wonderful health benefits and the totally scrumptious culinary delights of eating a majority of our food raw.  As a vegetarian/vegan, I know all about how healthy it is to eat a plant-strong diet.  But, eating most of those plants raw is taking the experience to a whole 'nother level.  From what I've been reading, seeing, and eating, though, raw is clearly the way to go!

Case in point, Ms. Mimi Kirk.  Eyeball the book cover below and tell me: how is this remarkable woman 72 years old?  She looks and sounds 20 years younger and, in the process, is inspiring women around the world to live a happy, healthy, long life simply by - well, amongst a few other things - including more raw plant foods in their every day eating.

I definitely want to look like Mimi when I'm 72!  Check out Mimi's book, Live Raw, at her website:  Young on Raw Food

Cheers to your great health!

A New Blog for a New Year!

I'm a messy cook, but a good cook!  LOL... welcome to my brand-spanking-new Blog site.

I've been home today whipping up all kinds of delights for a book I'm "kind of" working on.  Almond Veggie Pate, Fresh Corn & Edamame Hummus, Yummy Energy Boost Bars, and a luscious Swirls of Pear & Persimmon dessert. And, I'm happy to say that these recipes are "raw", so you're getting all the natural goodness possible!  Love that!

Know where I'm getting all my inspiration from?  Toronto's fabulous vegan and raw food restaurants.  I ate at Live Organic Food Bar last night and was blown away at the scrumptiousness of my raw meal.   Last week I ate at Hogtown Vegan and almost pouted at the end of the meal, because I could have easily eaten more of their delicious fare!  I'll do restaurant reviews of my fave veggie restaurants from time to time but, suffice it to say, that this plethora of gastronomically delightful and yet totally healthy-for-you food is making me want to "do more".  As in: sharing even more than I do now about the culinary joys and fantastic health benefits of a plant-strong way of eating.

As a Registered Dietitian who is also a near vegan, high raw foodie, I really want everyone to know that plants taste great, they're awesomely good for you, and from the mountain of research we have, there's no better thing you can do for your body food-wise.

So, welcome to my Veggielicious blog, and thank you for stopping by!  Rummage around and see what delicious tidbit you can take away with you.  Cheers to your great health!!
